History:

Bladewolf began his life as an experimental AI-based weapon, meant to replace humans soldiers and cyborgs in armed conflict. He was educated in a variety of topics by the scientists responsible for his construction, and abandoned because he "lacked brutality", a trait essential for a weapon of war. Reactivated a few years after his construction, Bladewolf (then known as LQ-84i) was conscripted by the Desperado Enforcement PMC to work with it's cyborg "Winds of Destruction" unit, in various armed conflicts all over the world. While stationed in World Marshal's HQ in Denver, Bladewolf encountered "Jetstream" Samuel Rodrigues, a swordsman and mercenary who had uncovered that Desperado (and it's parent company, World Marshal) was responsible for criminal activity in his home country of Brazil. Bladewolf's encounter with Sam would leave him questioning his dedication to World Marshal's cause, as Bladewolf only served them out of fear of having his AI program destroyed.

Later, Bladewolf would be deployed along with Desperado operatives Khamsin and Mistral to Abkhazia, in order to assist in a coup led by a Russian General. While in Abkhazia, Bladewolf seized an opportunity to escape his Desperado captors, and was able to kill Khamsin before being apprehended by Mistral, who forced him into subservience by seizing control of his robotic body. It is in Abkhazia that Bladewolf meet Raiden, a cyborg mercenary working for a rival PMC who liberates Bladewolf by disabling his body, before recovering it and bringing it to cybernetics expert Wilhelm "Doktor" Voight, to be repaired and refitted. It is during this time that Bladewolf officially gains the moniker "Bladewolf, as a result of the canine appearance of his new robotic body.

Bladewolf begins to work with Raiden, providing him with map data and reconnaissance as the latter continues in his mission against Desperado, and when the pair travel to Denver, Bladewolf counsels Raiden through a brief emotional breakdown, and comments on his deployment with Sam.

When Raiden later encounters Sam in the desert, Bladewolf expresses disappointment that Raiden and Sam have to fight, as Bladewolf was attached to both men, and when Raiden defeats Sam, Bladewolf claims his unique "Murasama" sword, claiming that it is "in his memory". This proves fortuitous later, as Sam's sword is the only weapon capable of defeating Senator Steven Armstrong, who turns out to have been responsible for everything that had happened to both Raiden and Bladewolf.

After Senator Armstrong's defeat, Bladewolf chooses to live with Sunny Emmerich, an engineer and child prodigy, who was a friend of Raiden's.

Personality: While Bladewolf may seen emotionless and robotic, he is possessed of a dry wit and a very straightforward way of dealing with things. He values knowledge and loyalty above everything else. More than anything, Bladewolf despises violence, and only fights when he believes it to be absolutely necessary. He can and does show empathy, but his limited experiences means he can't offer much more than his sympathy.

Powers/Abilities: Being a cybernetic canine, Bladewolf possesses strength, stamina, and agility significantly above and beyond a human, and possesses and "AR mode" mask built into his head that allows him to see in the dark, and through some solid surfaces. He is also equipped with a number of "heat knives" which he can throw with the three-fingered manipulator on his tail with deadly accuracy.  Since Bladewolf himself is an advanced learning neuro-AI, he has significant intellect to start with, and a desire to learn more.

[Bladewolf was...he wasn't sure where he was. That was a first. Engaging his AR mode, he swings his head back and forth, registering several people in the room with him. Jack Sears. Wilhelm Voigt. Boris Popov. He can't move. He isn't restrained. Someone asks him how he feels. He's not used to this sort of question.]

I feel....free.

Prose Sample:

The first thing LQ-84i remembered after his fight with Raiden was someone calling him "Bladewolf". It was a fitting name, he decided, and before doing anything else, he changed his internal registry to reflect this new name. The next thing he knows, his entire chassis is being stripped away and gutted, and replaced with one that felt more advanced, and dare he say it....natural? Gone was the heavy weight of the chainsaw/railgun mounting on his back, and he felt a curious sensation where his head might be. He'd been fitted with what was being called an "AR Display Visor", which someone joked made him look even more like a wolf than he had before. Returning to full "consciousness", Bladewolf engaged this new thing, and felt his whole sensory world expand, his vision expanding to cover everything in his immediate area. A man standing nearby placed a hand on his chassis, and spoke. "Can you hear me, Bladewolf? I have taken the liberty of upgrading your systems using blueprints we recovered from Africa. How do you feel?"

It was the first time anyone had ever asked him that. Even back when he was a prototype, he'd always been treated like property, like he wasn't worth any more consideration than one might give a toaster. For a moment, Bladewolf isn't sure what to say. "I feel...free." It's the first thing he can think of, really. "I should hope so, yes. I also took the liberty of upgrading and modifying your programming. Your memory can no longer be wiped, and remote piloting has also been disabled. I also uploaded the instructions on how to use your AR Display, you should review them before we release you back to Abkhazia."

They were letting him go. Whoever it was, they had repaired him, and freed him from Desperado's control. If he'd had emotions, they might be overcoming Bladewolf, but instead, he simply shakes his head. "I will not be returning to Abkhazia." He then looks to Raiden who had been standing in a dark corner, watching everything that happened. "I wish to assist Raiden in the field, if he would accept my aid."
